7th Annual Badges of Courage Golf Tournament

imagejpeg 2On Monday  November 9, the San Gabriel Police Officers' Association held its annual Badges of Courage Golf Tournament at the prestigious Via Verde Country Club in the City of San Dimas. Nearly 100 golfers enjoyed a round of golf on the beautiful grounds, and a delicious dinner afterward.

The golf course, although picturesque, was quite challenging.  But despite giving players a run for their money, a great time was had by all.  We received numerous compliments from many of those who participated.  In addition to the many community minded people from throughout the area, there were several celebrity sports figures and celebrities from television as well.  No names will be dropped.  You will have to come out and play next year to see which celebrities come out.

As is tradidition, the golf tournament is the venue that is used by the San Gabriel POA to hand out the coveted "Officer of the Year" award.  This year's recipient is a very deserving officer, who best exemplifies what it means to be a San Gabriel Police Officer.  Congratulations to Officer Michael Munoz, the 2015, Officer of the Year.  Mike has been with the San Gabriel Police Department for 9 years, and has served his community with distinction, dedication, and pride.

The Badges of Courage golf tournament would never be possible were it not for the tireless work and dedication of one man, Vince "Vinnie" Salazar.  Vinnie is instrumental in making the golf tournaments happen each year.  The San Gabriel POA is very grateful to him and the many other members who volunteer their time and hard work in making our tournaments such a huge success.  Thank you to everyone who helped, there are too many to list.

Each year the money that it raised from the tournament helps to fund our organization and its efforts to protect the police officers of San Gabriel.  In addition, a part of the money raised also goes to help support many of the charity and community service organizations we work with throughout the year.   Because working with the community we serve is a large part of the mission of the San Gabriel Police Offiers' Association.

Thank you to everyone who came out this year, and we hope to see you all next year.
