From The President

Welcome To Our Website!

The San Gabriel Police Officers' Association thanks you for your support.

During these troubling times in which criminals are being released from their sentences early, and the lack of resources and staffing in today's law enforcement, it is more important than ever to support the men and women who have sworn to protect their community.

Working with our elected officials to ensure they make decisions with your best interest in mind is one of the missions of the SGPOA.  Together, with your support, we can continue to make San Gabriel a great place to work, live and visit.

SGPOA Hosts First Town Hall Meeting

S.G.P.O.A. Hosts First Ever Town Hall Meeting

Audience Listens to SGPOAOn Wednesday April 25, 2012, The San Gabriel Police Officers’ Association (SGPOA) in partnership with the San Gabriel Police Management Group (SGPMG), and San Gabriel Firefighter’s Association (SGFA), hosted their first ever Town Hall Meeting.  The event was held at the San Gabriel Masonic Lodge, 278 S. Mission Drive.

The meeting was a greater success than all three organizations had anticipated.  There were close to 100 residents and business owners in attendance.  The community members in attendance were offered an opportunity to listen to speakers from all three host groups.

Detective Fabian Valdez represented the Police Officers’ Association.  Fabian presented a power point display outlining why the POA is currently involved in litigation with San Gabriel City Administration.  The presentation also highlighted what the POA believes is the downward spiral the city officials are directing the city toward.

Community Feedback Forum

The San Gabriel Police and San Gabriel Firefighters Associations have been working very hard to inform members of the San Gabriel community about the many issues and challenges facing San Gabriel.  Members of the SGPOA and SGFFA are eager to meet with our community and business members to help build a stronger bond with the citizens and business owners that we serve.

The SGPOA and SGFFA are hosting a “Community Feedback Forum” on Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at 7PM, at the Masonic Hall in San Gabriel (278 S. Mission Dr. San Gabriel).  The event will begin with a short presentation and will be followed by a question and answer session with members of the San Gabriel Police and Fire Departments.  We are eager to hear from our community and business members and hope you can attend.  For further information regarding our “Community Feedback Forum” please email us or call us at 626-818-3738.

Setting The Record Straight

The City of San Gabriel Administration Released Statements To The Public That Are Grossly Inaccurate and Misleading...

On Page #3 of the City’s written response to the POA’s lawsuit and message to the community, the city states that 13 out of 39 non-ranking officers each make more than $100,000, with the highest paid officer earning more than $130,000. This is horribly misleading. Perhaps they might have explained to the public how many hours of overtime these officers had to work to make these amounts.

Furthermore, these officers are working overtime throughout the year primarily because the police department does not have the manpower to meet minimum staffing requirements. Is this the officer’s fault or symptomatic of a staffing and organizational problem? We will tell you, in our small department, we are currently understaffed by four officers.  Three of the positions have been frozen by the city.

San Gabriel's Own

The San Gabriel Police Department has lost 2 officers in the line of duty since it's inception. Although the SGPOA did not exist at the time of these officers' deaths, we still consider them our fellow brethren and members. Read about Officer Elmer H. Griffin and Officer Alvin W.
